Not to worry. There’s a simple counter-countermeasure. Simply install a fluoroscope under a footrest. For those too young to have bought shoes back in the 40s, a fluoroscope x-rays the feet inside a shoe, so you can see not only if your examinee’s shoes are the proper fit, but also all tacks, pins, or staples your examinee might be using. For details, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flouroscope. Gordon IP: Logged |

This must be very new. I have never heard about this one before. I have heard of examinees hiding a small sledge hammer in their shoe. At some point during the test, they pull the hammer out and secretly hit themselves in the head to force a reaction. I hear this is difficlt to detect. Perhaps Dr. B could provide some updated CM training at AAPP?Ted IP: Logged |

Search "polygraph" from that page and you'll get one other. I think it's interesting how little an "everything" page has had since 2000 - four entries!I think it goes to show that some people really take the time to read Maschke's book (a portion of which actually understands it), but most seem to be happy with tales from the rumor mill and know just enough to really cause themselves some harm on an exam.
